Wife Fail

So, i have to start by saying i have the sweetest most wonderful husband in the world and I totally wife-flopped last night. :(

He was getting some stuff together before he had to head back up to Bangor and i was cold so I went into the bedroom to snuggle under the blankets. He came in moments later wanting me to come back out to the living room. So, i did. Well... I jumped out of bed, over the back of the couch and curled up under those blankets, where I promptly fell asleep.

I woke up to him saying "Ducky, I have the bed all ready for you." He picks me up and carries me in to the bedroom to the made bed. He tucked me in. "Do you need anything?" "I need my Ipod [alarm clock] and phone", I mumbled. "It's right here sweety." "And I cleaned up the kitchen, and your keys are by your purse."

I looked at the clock, it was past time for him to go so I couldn't keep him any longer. :( So, in the last few hours we had, on possibly the last full weekend together, he cleaned the kitchen, made the bed, put all my things together for the morning, and I... slept. Wife Fail! :( And, we didn't get any snuggle time.

He also fed and watered the cat so I didn't have to this morning, and folded up the blanket on the couch. My husband is amazing and I am lame. I owe him bigtime!

Wordlessness of the Wednesdays

I was... looking at her tattoo... This is us at an Arthur Murray dance part a few years back, before we were together.

I think I was dancing with her in my head too.

A short long-weekend catchup

So Monks had a four day weekend. Woohoo! :D

Since i had to take a half day off work thursday to drive up there for a meeting, I decided to just go ahead and take the whole long weekend with him. Get in as much monkey time as I can before I'm riding solo again. I mean, it's a little bit before they leave, but they're getting into refit soon and that means fewer and shorter weekends together.

After the meeting we did some bowling. My first game always sucks. My second is always great. And if there had been a third, it wouldn't have been as swell as  the second, but still better than the first. I always have to get my groove back.

Then we stopped at the bar on base. We met with some of his buddies playing pool. I just wanted to dance. I mean real dancing. There is usually at least one or two good cha chas and sometimes a good salsa. They were doing karaoke that night. At first I thought that it would be rude to steal someones thunder while they're trying to sing. But 15 really crappy singers, and most of an amaretto sour later, I decided i didn't care. I wanted to dance. So we went out there and got a few dances in. We even managed to get a waltz in at the last minute. That's right. We waltzed, in a bar, to Karaoke. Yes we did. We are that cool. (Or, nerdy. Whichever you prefer.)

We were supposed to tree to tree high ropes adventure course with some of his friends that were coming down to Portland for other stuff. But, the place doesn't open again until March. So, instead we were going to hit the rock wall gym again, but Monkey's phone died and he only had a car charger. We didn't manage to go many places once we finally got home so it never got charged.

I'm leaving out parts, because I said this would be short and it's not. But I'll end with... we finally got our taxes done! Woo, and we're actually getting money back this year. Thanks to the active duty tax credit. Thank you turbo tax. Neither of us knew that existed. So, we're going to put that money into savings and let it just sit there. We have no plans for it right now, even though we really need some stuff for the house yet. I figure as long as we have it, we won't need it.

Wordless Wednesday

I'm so getting these gloves. There were some pink ones I like too, but there is another girl who is all about the pink, so I'll let her have that. I'll just float like a butterfly... and kick ass like an angry hornet!!

I love my geek.

No this isn't my valentine's day post yet. But, I just had to share this short text convo I just had.

Monkey: "I lova you! I just saw the second most beautiful thing in the planet"
Me: "And what's that?"
Monkey: "A room, FULL of glorious computers! Operations room for Naval Control. Requires ts clearance. That was the kind of [stuff] I wanted to see"
Me: "nice! How do you get a job in there?"
Monkey: Can't for my rate, but I want my LAN room to be like that!"
Me: "Haha. I love you babe. I love my geek. :)"

Yeah, I really do. I love it when he geeks out. I think it's adorable.

Catch up

Ok, there are a couple things I am behind on talking about. My Valentines day post will likely be tardy. Anyway, I'll get on with it.

First off... I finally quit salsa. I tried. It wasn't for me. Not this team anyway, I don't want to get into details and complain about it here. But it just hasn't been a fun experience. It could get better and just might this time, but I've had to make a decision. We're kind of on a team break. We're all taking individual lessons right now. This means that we're out of contract. I've been trying to decide for a while, actually. I've been holding on to how cool it COULD be. But it's been more drama and stress than anything else so far. When I started kickboxing I found this group of people who just amaze me. Everyone is like one big family and truly care about each other. I have never experience a group of people that really care about me as an individual outside of the given activity through which i met them. I realized that in a few months when salsa goes back to full time I wouldn't have time for both and I would have to make a choice. I think this new found group could be really good for me, especially when it comes deployment time and I really need support and not to just be occupied. So, rather than just waiting until i had to sign the contract, I figured I would just cut the ties now and leave my salsa group. I will miss it, I do already. But I will also like having a little more free time, a little extra cash, and a whole lot less stress.

On a funner (yes, I said 'funner') note, yesterday Monkey, his little bro, and I went to a rock climbing gym. It was a lot of fun and I think we're all excited to go back some time. Our forearms are soooo sore, though! The hardest part was keeping a grip on the rocks.

Thursday 5

Even though, my Wordless Wednesday was on Thursday, I won't let my Thursday 5 be on Friday. :)
I'll just jump right in. Here we go:

You know the drill. Link up here --->

Here are the words:

Excited
Delightful
Thankful
Super
Appreciative

I am excited that it's almost the weekend. And that I'll be making my traditional valentines day brownies for the Monkey this weekend. I have some new tasty ideas I want to try out!

Our new couch is just delightful! It's so soft and comfy. Now if we could just stay off of it. :) We need to be more productive this weekend. Lots of things to get done.

I realized today that I am very thankful for what a wonderful relationship Monkey and I have. From experience we've both learned how NOT to fight. We communicate very very well, and it's what makes everything so easy.

I ordered a super cute custom pillow from Etsy. It's freaking adorable and I had the lady make it with the colors that I want in our living room. (Mostly to prove to monkey that those colors do in fact "go" together.)

Tuesday night I went to a fun even with the people from my kickboxing gym. It was a lot of fun and I am very appreciative that they encouraged me to go. The longer I am there, I am finding that it is a very good place for me to be right now. Everyone there is like one big family and truly cares about you as a person. I'm so glad I found these new friends.

Like this one, but with different fabrics to match my couch and color scheme. The adorable etsy shop is here.

Wordless Wednesday... on Thursday

Well, I meant to post this yesterday, but I was waiting to get this picture from someone else. So, albeit a day late and not-so-wordless; here's my Wordless Wednesday post.

Some of the crew from The Source Academy at the Yelp! Bossanova Bash. Don't mess with this group!

Our couch is going to make us lazy.

Well, I hope not anyway....

You see, this weekend we FINALLY got our new couch. It was delivered at the not-so-convenient time of 8:00 Saturday morning. I guess it was ok because it meant that we wouldn't miss out on kickboxing. But, when we got home... we planted ourselves on our new couch and stayed there until Sunday night. We literally didn't do anything. We watched Scrubs seasons all weekend. And played facebook games on our laptops. We were truly and utterly lazy.

We failed to go shopping, failed to do our taxes, failed to go running like I promised Monkey i would go do with him. We even ordered pizza. (We recently discovered a nearby pizza place that has a gluten free crust option. And they make very very good, albeit, very expensive pizza.)

In my partial defense of not getting off the couch, i made the mistake of eating the hummus that always always makes my stomach hurt. I always think, if I just have less than last time, it won't do that to me again. Nope, an hour later, I'm curled up in a ball whining and swearing I'll stop eating that brand.

At the end of the weekend, we both looked at each other and said, "Wow, we were so lazy. This couch is going to make us lazy!" I'm hoping that we're just getting not having a couch out of our system and the novelty will soon wear off. I think though, we need to make a routine so that we will at least get the essentials, like grocery shopping, done before we plop ourselves down and enter veg-out mode.

Thirsdae Fife

Hey-howdy-hey! Ducky asked me to do the Thursday Five! Been working 12 hours days every day this week. This is supposed to be the easy, less stressful part of our cycle but then again, I'm a Nav-ET. Got WoW to run on Ubuntu! Pretty excited about that! This means I am 90% ready to be done with the tyranny of Microsoft forever!

Honest
Splendid
Perfect
Spectacular
Fancy

I'm using for the second time in my whole life; an honest, non-pirated operating system. Seems kinda silly but that's rare for me, I don't like paying for Microsoft's sub-par programming. No more! I must say that Ubuntu is Splendid. Its practically perfect! I discovered this week that I have less than spectacular aim with an M16. I feel fancy? Well perhaps not "fancy" but sort of! I felt pretty good when I did my interview for BCEF today. Fancy is kinda fitting. :-D

I want to be a professional crafter.

Every time I get on Etsy I see all this cool stuff and think, "Hey, I know how to do that. I can sell that? Neat!" By the time I'm done looking at all the pretty pillows and bags and the like, i am super inspired and want to just go hog wild at the craft store and make stuff!

It also makes me wish I could just drop everything and craft, and just have a craft business full time on Etsy. Realistically, I know it doesn't work that way. I think, though, that most of that come from that fact that I would love nothing more than to pack up and move up to WA with hubs and be crafty all day. That would make me sooo happy. I love making stuff. I love being creative with materials. And hey, I would love to make a living doing it.

Maybe one day. One day I will be able to quit filling up all my extra time with dancing and working out so I can start to do some part time crafting and see if something takes off. I have so many ideas already. I would have to make a niche for myself, since I'm sure the market is flooded with pretty pillows and bags and such. Ideas! Oh the ideas in my head! *mmm, taking a moment*

Perhaps, I will make this my goal for this next deployment. Pick a craft. Make a bunch. Put them on Etsy, and see what happens. Who knows, maybe at least he'll come home to some extra cash in the bank account and we can take a little va-ca? Or... buy night stands and a proper bedding set. Or... I just found something fun to do while he was away. Either way it's a win in my book.
